A short review of Destiny 2

A short review of Destiny 2

Blizzard is providing Destiny 2 as a free download this month. So, since I was a Destiny addict, I decided to give it a try. I played it for about 8 hours yesterday. I got through the introduction and got into the main story. I have to say, it plays a lot like Destiny did. There are some interesting differences, but the major game play is similar enough.

I have to admit, though, that I'm not really interested in playing it any more. I pretty much exhausted my Destiny mojo with the Taken King expansion. I wasn't the type of player who had to complete all the raids (I never once attended a raiding party). I was mostly interested in the main story, exploring the planets, and going on the strikes.

So, I played some missions, participated in some of the public events, and did the old gear grind. That's what I remember most about Destiny, the little bursts of dopamine that I'd get when I found an engram and got new equipment that was better than what I already had. To me, it gets boring after awhile.

The environment and music were good, but forgettable. It is a great game, but I'm not much of a gamer, so it's probably not a good idea for people to judge a game based on anything I might say about it. Just running from one checkpoint to the next, killing aliens along the way, is not my idea of a fun time any more.

I would recommend this game to anyone who liked the first one, though. It adds enough to the game play that it's worth the price...free.
